Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery auditioned for Idol again on TikTok.
Alaina and McCreery — who finished runner-up and winner, respectively, in 2011 — tried the TikTok Idol filter in a clip posted on Tuesday (December 9). Alaina introduced herself to caricatures of original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. She turned to her fellow former Idol contestant and asked, “Scotty, what should I sing?” McCreery suggested something by late Country Music Hall of Fame member Keith Whitley, and the pair began to sing “When You Say Nothing at All.”
“Scotty McCreery! I think he’ll win!” Alaina exclaimed at the end of the TikTok Idol clip. She added in her caption, “Do y’all think we’ll make it past Hollywood Week?! Let me know in the comments.”
Alaina’s TikTok with McCreery arrives shortly after she shared a nostalgic throwback clip with the North Carolina-born country star. Fifteen years ago, sang “I Told You So” by legendary country artist Randy Travis. Alaina said she’s “forever thankful for those two kiddos who chased their dreams, so we can still do what we love today. I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years since our lives changed forever. I’m so grateful to have started it all with this guy.”
