WWII Veteran Finally Gets High School Diploma
He dropped out of school to defend our country in 1944 and now he’s finally going to graduate.
It’s been a long time coming, but a 94-year-old World War II veteran finally has his high school diploma. Robert Lockard was honored at Circleville High School’s graduation recently, the same school he attended and would have graduated from way back in 1944, but he dropped out to join the Army.
Lockard served in the Air Corps 354th Infantry 89th Division and was in northern France and central Europe during the war. He received three Bronze Star designations, a European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal, but says he always thought about getting that diploma when he returned home. Now the grad says “it means everything to him.”
