The Bottom Line: WalletHub reveals which sates are doing the best and worst ob of helping working mothers

  • WalletHub has just come out with their list of the Best and Worst States for Working Moms
  • They judged all 50 states and the District of Columbia on 15 key  metrics in areas such as childcare, professional opportunities and  work-life balance
  • Vermont was named the best state overall, and specifically the best  for professional opportunities, while Idaho is the worst, coming in dead  last for childcare

Being a mom is tough and being a working mom can be even tougher,  especially if you live in an area that doesn’t do enough to support  mothers in the work place. While parental leave and other  policies helping working moms seem to be changing for the better in some  states, not all are stepping up to the challenge, and a new report  reveals which are doing the best and worst job of meeting working  mother's needs.

WalletHub has just come out with their list of the Best and Worst  States for Working Moms, judging all 50 states and the District of  Columbia on 15 key metrics in areas such as childcare, professional  opportunities and work-life balance.

With all that in mind, the site names Vermont as the Best State for  Working Moms, scoring a 64.79 out of 100. The state lands at number one  for professional opportunities, three for childcare and five for  work-life balance. Meanwhile, Minnesota, which comes in second overall,  is tops for childcare, while Rhode Island is tops for work-life balance.
