Lightning Even Series With 5-3 Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 on Wednesday night in Toronto. The best-of-seven first round playoff series is now tied 1-1 with the series shifting back to Amalie Arena for games three and four.

Victor Hedman was the story of this game - his goal on the power play with three seconds left in the period gave Tampa Bay their first goal of the playoffs. He then had three more assists en route to a record-setting four point night.

After Corey Perry scored to make it 2-0, Michael Bunting got the Leafs on the board at the 7:47 mark of the second period. Nikita Kucherov scored on the power play at the 9:57 mark of the period to give Tampa Bay a two-goal lead back.

When the game shifted to the third, the Bolts got goals from Brandon Hagel at the 1:33 mark and Brayden Point at the 5:38 mark to make it 5-1. Though Toronto got goals from Mitchell Marner and Alexander Kerfoot to pull within 5-3, that would be as close as they could get as the Lightning earned the win.

Andrei Vasilevskiy picked up the win in net, going 31-for-34. Jack Campbell went 29-for-34 in net for Toronto.

The series now shifts to Tampa for Games Three and Four on Friday and Sunday night. Game three on Sunday night is scheduled for 7:30 PM - pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
