Get to Know The Dairy Daughters
Raised on dairy farms and country music, Shelby Dressel and Megan Gertken form the Nashville-based country duo, the Dairy Daughters.
Shelby grew up in Avon FL and was a Top 40s finalist from Season 9 ofAmericanIdol. As she left Hollywood on Week 3, Simon Cowell remarked,“That’s the wrong decision.”Ellen DeGeneres was so taken by Shelby’s story, she invited Shelby onto her show for an interview and performance.
A state fiddling champion from Albany MN, Megan Gertken has played the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and performed across the US, Canada and Europe with 2013America’s GotTalent contestant Fernando Varela.
The two met in Nashville, onstage at the world famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and realized how much they had in common both coming from hard working farm families. Shelby & Megan began to weave those similar threads into words and melodies.
Farm-raised old souls with country roots, Dairy Daughters blend a sound of sisterly harmony, acoustic strings and warm fiddle. The music is broken down, feel-good, back-porchy songs that are relatable and ring true to their morals and who they are, using simple truth and endearing lyrics. The Dairy Daughters sound is inspired by the vocal bluegrass tones of Patty Loveless and classic melodies of George Strait. It’s easy listening grass fed organic country gold!
Their first two singles (“Tomboy” & “Farmer’s Day Off”) received airplay on country radio and continue to stream on all digital outlets. Look for their debut EP to be released Summer 2019.
