Carrie Underwood's family is safe following a deadly tornado that hit Nashville early Tuesday morning (March 3). At the time, Underwood wasn't home, but her husband, Mike Fisher, acted quickly to make sure their family was safe.

The country star appeared on NBC's Today Show Tuesday morning, revealing that Fisher and their two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, took cover as the storm approached the area.

"He said he had to go upstairs at like 2 am and grab the boys and take them down to, we have like a little safe room in our house," she explained. "I bet everybody was crying. It's like 2 am and like, freaking out."

Underwood is one of many country artists who has commented on the devastating tornadoes in Music City. Artists like Dan + Shay, Jake Owen, Reba McEntire, Dierks Bentley, and more have turned to social media to check in and offer their support to the city.

According to The Associated Press, the tornadoes caused over 40 buildings to collapse in and around downtown Nashville leaving 22 people dead and many more homeless.
