Blood banks worry COVID-19 could curtail donations

The coronavirus doesn't pose any known risk to blood donors in the United States during the donation process so don't hesitate to roll up your sleeve!

"We have no idea how long this is going to be a situation for us," Pat Michaels with OneBlood said, "and blood donations are needed every day."

Michaels says if COVID-19 continues to spread- additional challenges may arise which could potentially reduce the number of eligible donors.

Coronavirus poses no known risk to the safety of the nation's blood supply and poses no known risk to patients receiving blood transfusions.

Michaels says go to OneBlood.org to find the location of the donation center nearest you.
