The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is commending a deputy from Daytona Beach who helped save a boy's life in Wellington last week.
The 11-year old was allegedly attacked by a man who is believed to have been under the influence of drugs.
Investigators say 33-year old Angel Ortiz was naked when he pulled the boy out of a car, ripped off the child's clothing and threw him in a storm drain.
Ortiz then jumped into the drain himself and is accused of trying to drown the boy.
Off-duty Volusia County Deputy Kletus Stubblefield heard the child screaming and pulled him out of the drain.
It took six deputies to get Ortiz into custody.
