Jim Cantore Saves NBC News Reporter During Live Hurricane Coverage
October 12, 2018
NBC reporter saved by Weather Channel star after winds nearly knock him off his feet while on air.
People know that when the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore shows up, the storm is going to be bad. And while his presence makes some folks nervous, NBC News reporter Kerry Sanders is glad Cantore was around to save him during live coverage of Hurricane Michael.
Sanders was covering the hurricane in Panama City Beach, Florida when winds from the Category 4 storm almost knocked him off his feet. Video of the incident shows Sanders trying to keep his balance during the live shot, then losing his footing before Cantore helps get him up.
“Thank you, my friend,” Sanders tweeted to Cantore, along with photos of the helmet he was wearing that helped protect him when winds blew him into a concrete pillar. “You’ve taught me again, back-up support always needed.”
