Teacher Raises $5K For Student’s Evicted Family
June 15, 2018
New Jersey high school teacher crowdfunds money to get his student’s family back on their feet.
Some teachers really get to know their students and that’s the case for Nicholas Ferroni, a social studies teacher at Union High School in New Jersey, who noticed a former student was having a tough time. He still talks to George Hued all the time and the teen told him his single-mom had recently lost her job and they had been evicted from their home.
The kind-hearted teacher didn’t waste any time getting to work to help Hued. Ferroni set up a GoFundMe account to raise money to help the family get back on their feet and in just 72 hours, people had donated $5,000.
“Not only as educators, but as people, if you are in a position to help, you help,” Ferroni says. “As teachers, you don’t see them as your students, but as your kids.”
- It’s worth mentioning that Ferroni was also voted “People” magazine’s Sexiest Teacher Alive in 2014. Although he’s quick to dismiss that, he is strikingly handsome, in addition to being so dedicated to his students.

Teen Forced To Cover Legs in Duct Tape For Violating Dress Code
June 15, 2018
The student was forced to cover the holes in her jeans with the duct tape.
- A teen was forced to put duct tape over the wholes in her jeans.
- She ended up with itching and burning on her skin form the tape.
- Her mother is outraged the school did not follow protocol, but the principal has apologized.
We know that duct tape can fix just about anything. But how about ripped jeans? A Maryland middle school is coming under fire by a student’s mother after a teacher made her seventh grader wearing ripped jeans cover her legs with duct tape. Nicole Williams got a text from her daughter who attends Benjamin Stoddert Middle School saying that the duct tape was itching and burning her skin. However, Nicole didn’t know the jeans were a dress code violation until she got that text.
“The idea that they came up with and believe it was a good idea to put duct tape on a child when they can clearly see bare skin – I believe they should have called me first and gave her a chance to change her clothes,” Williams says. Her daughter says her teacher instructed her to use the duct tape to cover the rips. She alleges that she went to grab the tape, but the teacher was the one to put it on and made it tight “because she didn’t want it falling off.”
Turns out the school’s policy doesn’t allow shorts above the knee or jeans with holes above the knee. It also states that the school must call the parent before applying duct tape over any holes. Interim principal Marvin Jones notes that the school did not follow protocol. In a statement, he notes that the tape used on the student was “excessive” and he apologized for the school not following protocol in this incident. See the offending jeans HERE.
