Passengers on a stalled Amtrak plane ordered a pizza The delivery man had to cut through a yard and jump over a water-filled ditch to deliver the pizzaHe was greeted with applause and a $32 tip
A travel delay is never fun, but being stuck when you're hungry? That's even worse. Passengers on an Amtrak train from New York to Washington D.C. were stalled in Delaware without access to food or drink for more than three hours. So a bunch of passengers got together and decided to order a pizza from Dom's Pizza in Newport.
Delivery man Jim Leary was greeted with applause a $32 tip after he brought the pie right to the hungry travelers. The 46-year-old has delivered pizza for 17-years across 18 states but Leary says this is his strangest job yet.
In order to get the pizza to the train, Leary had to cut through a backyard, navigate a steep embankment and jump over a water-filled ditch- all while balancing the two pies.
A woman was supposed to drive to a hospital six miles from her house, but ended up 300-miles away after missing her exit
- A grandmother in England was planning on driving to a hospital six-miles from her home
- Instead, she ended up 300-miles from her house in Scotland
- It's believed she missed her exit and only stopped when she ran out of gas
Valerie Johnson only meant to drive six miles from her Peopleton, England home to Royal Hospital in Worcester for an unknown ailment. Instead, the 83-year-old found herself in Scotland, eight-hours later.
It's believed Johnson missed her exit due to road work and just kept on driving. She ran out of gas 300-miles later in Larkhall, Scotland. Fortunately, a couple who lived nearby took her in until Johnson's daughter arrived by plane.
Understandably, her daughter was very nervous before getting word on her mom's whereabouts. "Mum’s next-door neighbor called me to say she hadn’t come back and he was worried. I thought she must have had an accident," Karen Maskell explains. "We called the police and by the time I got to her house, they said they had spotted her car on a traffic camera at 11pm. I said it couldn’t be my mum because she hates driving, she doesn’t usually drive more than three miles."
Well, it was - and now Johnson is back home safe and sound. And we're guessing she won't be getting behind the wheel for a while.
