Getting Over the Hump!

A little something for bird lovers today! Einstein the African Grey Parrot just celebrated his 30th birthday at Zoo Knoxville, and showed off his impressive impersonation skills:

Redditor shares the note his daughter left in his suitcase when he had to leave home on business.

It’s not easy for parents to head out of town for work, leaving their kids behind. But when Mark Dauter was preparing for a recent trip to New York, his 10-year-old daughter Tate went out of her way to keep dad from being lonely while he was away. She left a note for him along with her beloved stuffed Dumbo toy, to keep him company.

The note reads:

“Dear Daddy, You can use Dumbo. I love you, Good morning, Good night, Sweet Dreams, I love you to the moon and back. Also get me a ‘suvaneir’! Love Tatertot!”

This proud dad posted a photo of the note on Reddit and it’s gone viral with it’s over the top cuteness. He says he was “touched with tears” when he saw Dumbo and the note. And he didn’t let little Tate down, he brought her an I “heart” NY stuffed bear and candy from his trip.

Virginia crossing guard is honored for her 50-year commitment to keeping the students of St. James Catholic School safe.

It was back on March 29, 1967 that Janet Haines started working as a crossing guard in Falls Church, Virginia. And 50 years later, she’s still helping people cross that same corner.

The 91-year-old says she loves the “pleasant work environment” on her corner near St. James Catholic School. To honor her 50-year work anniversary, the school surprised her with a celebration of her service. The students, staff, some police officers, and even the mayor came out to show their appreciation for Haines.

“She always has a smile for everybody,” Sister Mary Sue Carwile, the principal at St. James says of their long-standing crossing guard. “I call her our ambassador to the world of kindness and care.”
