A new rule taking effect in Florida today means police can no longer fly Chinese drones. The DeSantis administration is now banning government agencies-like police and fire-from using the drones in an attempt to stomp out foreign influence. That means millions of dollars' worth of the equipment will be shelved. Some state lawmakers are crying foul, saying the Florida approved replacements are more expensive and less capable---most can't even fly at night. Drones have become an integral part of policing since they're cheaper and safer than flying helicopters or chasing suspects down.
