A man described as a "person of interest" in the death of an elderly Palm Beach County Lyft driver is expected to be extradited to Florida soon.

74-year old Gary Levin's remains were found near Okeechobee. 35-year old Mathew Flores was found with Levin's car in North Carolina and was wanted on unrelated murder charges in Florida.

"Extradition's a pretty automatic process. Basically, the only thing that needs to be proven is that they have the right person."

Former defense attorney Marc Shiner tells CBS 12 News that Flores will first be sent to Hardee County, near Tampa.

But if he is charged in Levin's death, the state will have to decide which case they want to prosecute him on first. Shiner says attorneys typically pick the strongest case.

He says prosecutors will want to have enough evidence against Flores to connect him to Levin's murder.

"It looks real bad for him that he's driving a dead guy's car. I mean that's pretty strong, but that's not enough to convict somebody."

The charges Flores faces out of North Carolina are related to leading police on a chase there, with Levin's Nissan. Shiner says those charges will likely be dropped.

There is also question as to whether Flores was a passenger of Levin's. Okeechobee County Sheriff's officials say they believe he was, but Lyft says they have no record of Flores booking a ride.
