Rays Bounce Back With Rout of Blue Jays

The Tampa Bay Rays (83-67) defated the Toronto Blue Jays (84-66) 10-5 on Thursday night at Tropicana Field. The win puts the Rays into the second Wild Card spot, one game behind the Blue Jays for the top Wild Card spot.

After the Rays fell behind 1-0 early, the Blue Jays answered with three runs in both the first and the second. Jonathan Aranda's solo homer to lead off the first inning set the pace early. Leading 6-3 going into the fourth, the Rays added a three-run fourth inning to turn this game into a rout.

J.T. Chargois opened the game allowing one run, Ryan Yarbrough (3-8, 4.50) came in and allowed two runs in the second. He was removed from the game before recording an out in the third inning because of what the team called right side discomfort and will undergo further evaluation on Friday.

The Rays and Blue Jays now prepare for the second game of the four game series on Friday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
