Bloomingdale House Catches Fire a Second Time

A home in Bloomingdale sustained heavy damage after it caught fire for a second time early this morning.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue says the house, in the 400 block of Van Reed Manor Drive, was hit by lightning last night. That fire was brought under control in 15 minutes, but it started up again around 6 am, and the house was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. Neighbor Chris Koudela told News Channel 8 there was a big lightning strike last night. "Power went out," Koudela said. "I heard yelling, and saw a giant wall of smoke, and came running out."

Koudela helped evacuate three people who were inside the home last night. No one was in the house when it caught fire again this morning.

No one was hurt. No word on the cause, and no damage estimate at this point.
