Police Reform Bill Clears First Hurdle

A bipartisan bill that looks to reform police measures has made it through its first Florida House committee.

The legislation limits the use of choke holds and requires officers to intervene when they see others using excessive force.

Rep Fentrice Driskell says it's about building trust between police and the communities they serve.

Florida Sheriffs Association spokesman Mike Atkinson says they fully support the measure.

The committee voting unanimously in favor of the bill.
