One Year Since Epstein's Death, Confidante Ghislaine Maxwell Awaits Trial

Monday marks the one year anniversary of the death of disgraced financier and part-time Palm Beach resident Jeffrey Epstein.

He died in a New York jail while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges. The medical examiner has ruled Epstein's death a suicide, though that has been disputed.

Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested last month, accused of arranging the girls for her one-time boyfriend.

Many of the alleged crimes committed by Epstein and Maxwell occurred at Epstein's mansion in Palm Beach.

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg says she's under close watch at another New York facility.

"If she has any chance of getting out of jail before the end of her life it's going to be by turning state's evidence and testifying against others."

He says it will be key for Maxwell to present documents, photos or other verified information that could lead to the prosecution of someone else.

Maxwell is accused of arranging the underage girls for Epstein, and at least one victim claims she had also engaged in some of the sexual activity.

She also faces a perjury charge over testimony made in a deposition regarding her relationship with Epstein.
