MDPD Director Ramirez Relieves Officer Of Duty After MIA Incident

A new video has the director of police in Miami-Dade County shocked and angered.

Freddy Ramirez was responding last night to a video that shows a uniformed police officer hitting a woman at Miami International Airport.

In the video, the woman is yelling at the officer, who hits her in the face and claims she head-butted him.

Ramirez has ordered an investigation and relieved the officer of duty.

Miami-Dade's State Attorney has opened an investigation into a Miami-Dade police officer caught on video slapping a combative woman at Miami International Airport.

Katherine Fernandez Rundle says after speaking to the Police Director, she has her Public Corruption prosecutors gathering the body camera evidence and witness/victim testimony.

That officer, identified as Anthony Rodriguez, has been relieved of duty.

In a statement Police Director Freddy Ramirez says, "I assure our community that any officer acting in this vain will be held to account."
