Police Strike Delicate Balance Keeping The Peace During Protests

Policing during violent riots is something every officer trains for, but different times call for different measures. Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina says officers must strike a balance with protesters who are using their First Amendment right to speak out peacefully and those who are there to do harm. He says of the 57 arrests they made on Saturday 8 people, or 15-percent, were from out of state and he believes they are professional agitators who have come to Florida trying to spread hate. Several South Florida officers have been seen kneeling in solidarity with peaceful protesters about the arrest and death of George Floyd.
