Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Aims To Merge With Another Town

The South Palm Beach Town Council has voted in favor of merging the town's eight-member police force with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The vote was 4-1.

The move would save residents an estimated $1 million over the next five years, according to those in favor of it.

The last municipality to have the Sheriff's Office take over law enforcement was Greenacres in 2016.

If the contract gets final approval by the interim Town Manager, the move would go into effect October 1.
