Florida Health Officials Say Hepatitis A Vaccine Is Readily Available

Walgreens Has Hep A Vaccine

If you're concerned about a rash of hepatitis A cases around the state, washing your hands frequently is one way to avoid it.

The other, and best way, is by getting the vaccine and Dr. Alina Alonso, Director of the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County says that should be an easy task. It starts with talking to your doctor.

"Your provider can either give you the vaccine themselves if they're storing it. If not, they can send you to any of the pharmacies...CVS, Walgreens, Walmart...any place that's giving out vaccines, they have it. It's readily available. There's no shortage of it."

She goes further...

"I was talking with one of the local retailers at one of the grocery stores and they said they are getting shipments everyday."

But she recommends speaking with your doctor first, because they have your full medical history and can give the proper advice.
